Jeddah’s Historic District Welcomes Visitors with Three Heritage Hotels
The Saudi Ministry of Culture and Balad Development Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, have inaugurated the first three heritage hotels in Jeddah’s Historic District, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2014.
These hotels are the result of meticulous restoration and rehabilitation efforts, aimed at preserving buildings with unique architectural characteristics in accordance with international standards and UNESCO guidelines.
Balad Development Company will oversee the management and operation of these hotels, which are part of a collection of 34 heritage buildings, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Modernly Styled Heritage Hotels
The heritage hotel collection includes Beit Joukhadar, Beit Al-Reis, and Beit Kadwan, all of which have been modernly refurbished while preserving and showcasing the Kingdom’s rich heritage. Each building reflects the area’s history and boasts distinctive architectural designs.
Beit Joukhadar is renowned for its ornate wooden mashrabiyas, the largest in the region. Beit Al-Reis features a unique interior design with all rooms overlooking a stunning courtyard surrounded by stone columns and arches. Beit Kadwan is located near Nassif House in Al-Alawi market, adding to its historical significance.
Attracting Global Visitors
The Jeddah Historic District Program and Balad Development Company recently announced an operating agreement for the heritage hotels encompassing 34 heritage buildings. This agreement entrusts the hotels to Balad Hospitality, Balad Development Company’s operational arm, dedicated to offering authentic and unique hospitality experiences that blend history, authenticity, and modern comfort.
With a commitment to preserving its heritage and developing rich exploration experiences, Jeddah’s Historic District is poised to become an attractive destination for visitors worldwide.
These developments not only enhance the cultural and historical landscape of Jeddah but also contribute to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals by promoting tourism and preserving cultural heritage. The initiative offers a unique opportunity for travelers to immerse themselves in the rich history and culture of Saudi Arabia while enjoying modern amenities and comforts.
