Madinah Buses Launches Three Free Shuttle Stations for Access to Al-Masjid An-Nabawi

Madinah Buses, overseen by the Madinah Region Development Authority, has launched three free shuttle stations in the neighborhoods of Daitha, Al-Oyoun, and Al-Gharaa during the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiative aims to facilitate access to the seven main stations leading to Al-Masjid An-Nabawi, which were previously announced. Commuters can check the locations of these stations through an official link provided by the authority.
The authority has mandated that passengers review the designated shuttle stops via the official website and select their departure point to ensure smooth transit, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Expanded Transportation Network
The shuttle service will operate from seven key locations, offering round-trip transportation to Al-Masjid An-Nabawi. These include the Sports Stadium, Sayyid Al-Shuhada, Al-Khalidiyah, Shatha, King Fahd District, Al-Hadiqa District, and Al-Salam College parking area.
Additionally, a dedicated shuttle service from the Al-Aaliyah Mall parking lot will transport passengers to Quba Mosque. The service operates for 18 hours daily, except for the Al-Salam and Sayyid Al-Shuhada stations, which run 24 hours.
Passengers are encouraged to check the designated shuttle stops at madinahbus.mda.gov.sa to verify their departure points.
Goals of the Madinah Buses Project
The Madinah Buses Project is designed to enhance transportation for residents and visitors to Al-Masjid An-Nabawi and other key locations in the city. It aims to reduce traffic congestion around Al-Masjid An-Nabawi, Quba Mosque, and the central area, improving urban mobility while minimizing vehicle emissions and expanding pedestrian-friendly zones near the mosque.
Previously, Madinah introduced a Rapid Bus Transit (BRT) system, targeting up to 500 stations and covering 80-90% of the city by 2030. The Madinah Region Development Authority has awarded a contract to a specialized company to execute this project.
The companies involved are responsible for engineering supervision, design, construction, testing, operations, and safety management. They will also oversee bus stations, parking facilities, pedestrian bridges, and related infrastructure.
As one of Saudi Arabia’s flagship transport projects, Madinah Buses aims to provide seamless connectivity between key locations, including Al-Masjid An-Nabawi, Quba Mosque, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport, and Haramain High-Speed Railway Station. The system will operate across four major routes, linking the city’s north, south, east, and west—all converging at Al-Masjid An-Nabawi.
