The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language announced today the launch of the “Arabic Computing Observatory” during the LEAP 2025 Conference. The Observatory will serve as a trusted reference for monitoring developments in Arabic language processing at local, regional, and international levels.
The initiative aims to support researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs working in Arabic language computing by providing accurate statistics to measure advancements in the field, according to the Saudi Press Agency. It will also offer comprehensive data to help develop technological tools and solutions that serve the Arabic language, analyze technologies and tools used in language computing, study available large language models and linguistic corpora, and address challenges while exploring future trends.
Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of the Academy, emphasized that the launch strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position as a global leader in Arabic language computing. This initiative aligns with the Academy’s vision to support Arabic digital content and enhance technological tools development, contributing to Saudi Vision 2030. The Academy also highlighted its collaboration with academic and technical entities to build broad partnerships, reinforcing the Kingdom’s role as a global digital hub.
The conference, organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones, as well as “Tahaluf” (a joint venture with Informa and the Events Investment Fund), will run until February 12 at the Riyadh Exhibition & Convention Center in Mulham.
