KACST, Lenovo Sign MoU to Establish Lenovo Center for Creativity and Innovation in Saudi Arabia
SPA — King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and Lenovo, the global tech company, yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish the Lenovo Center for Creativity and Innovation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the first innovation center in the Middle East and North Africa aiming to accelerate digital transformation and enhance cooperation in infrastructure, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing.
Under the partnership, KACST and Lenovo will cooperate in developing significant and sustainable high-performance computing clusters to accelerate research, development, and marketing solutions related to multiple sectors, such as genomics, satellite image interpretation, environment, and clean energy.
The MoU was signed by KACST Vice President of Digital Transformation Hakim bin Saleh Al-Saqri and Lenovo’s President for Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Giovanni Di Filippo on the sidelines of the Global Tech Event “LEAP23”.
On this occasion, Al-Saqri stressed that the partnership with Lenovo will help explore opportunities and come up with technical solutions for sectors relevant to social and economic development, as well as set the basis of cooperation that enables establishing and developing a technology incubator platform and exchange experience and business development methodologies.
