King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, one of the region’s key international hubs, set a new record for passenger traffic in 2024, surpassing 49.1 million passengers. This marks a 14% increase compared to 2023.
Total Flights and Airport Operations
In addition, the airport reported that the total number of flights in 2024 exceeded 278,000, showing an 11% increase compared to the previous year. This significant growth in both passenger numbers and flights highlights the airport’s rising status as a major aviation center in the region.
The busiest day of the year was December 31, 2024, with the airport welcoming more than 174,600 passengers. December 2024 also recorded the highest monthly passenger traffic, with the total number of passengers exceeding 4.7 million.
Baggage Handling Operations
The airport also saw notable growth in baggage handling operations, with over 47.1 million bags transported throughout the year, marking a 21% increase from the previous year. This increase in baggage volume reflects the growth of both tourism and commercial activity at the airport.
The surge in passenger numbers and flights can be attributed to several factors, including the ongoing expansion of the airport’s airline network connecting Jeddah to numerous cities worldwide. Additionally, significant investments by Saudi Arabia in the aviation sector have contributed to the development of airport infrastructure and improved passenger services.
A Major Religious and Tourist Destination
Saudi Arabia’s strategic position as a key religious and tourist destination further drives the demand for travel through King Abdulaziz International Airport.
This achievement is a culmination of the efforts made by the airport’s management and staff, who are committed to providing the best services to passengers and ensuring the efficient operation of the airport.
